when are your classes?

Term dates for 2025 are:
Autumn Term (6 weeks) – W/C 15 September – W/C 20 October
Half term (no class) – W/C 27 October
Winter Term (6 weeks) – W/C 3 November – W/C 8 December
do i need to book or can i just turn up?
We are excited to announce that from September 2025, our clubs will be weekly drop ins.
How much are classes?
We are introducing a ‘Pay What You Can’ model with weekly payment options of: £5, £7 or £10 per session.
can i pay for the whole term in one go?
Yes! Following the ‘Pay What You Can’ model, we are also offering term bundles of: £30, £45 or £60 for 6 sessions.
when and how do i pay?
You can register your details and make payment by either calling our friendly front of house team on 01553 277919 or popping into the venue.
will paying in advance guarantee my place?
We have limited spaces in our clubs, so registrations will be first come first serve basis. We recommend paying in advance to guarantee your place.
can i join a club at any point?
Yes, if there are spaces available! Some clubs are more popular and get booked up in advance.
i was ill/my child was ill - can i get a refund?
You will only pay for the weeks you attended. For example, if you pay for a bundle – sessions will only be deducted each time you attend.
where can i park?
The Workshop is located in King’s Lynn Vancouver Quarter town centre – opposite H&M and Costa Coffee on New Conduit St (PE30 1DL).
There are numerous parking options nearby, including secure car parks with a fee such as St James Multistorey and limited free evening street parking nearby (after 6pm). We are within walking distance to King’s Lynn train station and bus station.

do you cater for anyone with additional needs and/or physical disability?
Yes, we aim to provide classes which are accessible across the whole participatory programme. If you need additional support, please let us know so we can make any arrangements. We try our best to provide a positive learning environment for everyone.
We have selected clubs that are specified as SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).
am i eligible for a bursary?
As a registered charity, we fundraise to be able to offer part and full bursary places on our classes. We want as many people as possible to be able to take part. The self-referral form is short and easy to fill in.
Please note, when applying for a bursary you will need to wait for confirmation from us before joining a club.
Our staff can let you know if there are allocated spaces left in your preferred class. In the case spaces are full, you may be encouraged to choose another club in the meantime and be put on priority for the next upcoming term.
who are the tutors?
All our tutors are highly experienced and qualified and include a mix of former and current professional dancers, actors and musicians.

do i need to stay with my child?
For pre-school clubs such as Toddler Dance Club, a parent or carer Is required to stay in the class to provide any personal care necessary.
Our clubs from reception to year 13 are for your child to participate in independently. Please drop off and collect your child from our foyer. The tutor will collect your child from the foyer and return them to you there when class has finished.
We have limited seats in our reception area on the ground floor should you wish to stay in the building for the class duration. Alternatively, our friendly neighbours at Poco Lounge offer free hot drinks to parents waiting Mon-Fri. There is also a Costa Coffee opposite our building!
will my child be safe?
Yes. Our tutors and support workers are selected and approved by our experienced team, hold enhanced DBS certificates and they go through a thorough induction. There will also be a member of staff with first aid training on hand. Many of the teaching and support team are also licensed chaperones.
what should my child wear & bring to class?
Please provide a water bottle. We do not have a uniform, and we ask that your child is dressed comfortably and ready for movement.

my child may need some support in class, can you help with this?
Yes, we have a team of support workers who can help with developing confidence, making instructions as clear as possible, supporting engagement and understanding, and escorting a child to the toilet. Please discuss with us how we can best support your child. We offer building tours before classes so that you are comfortable with the spaces and can meet the team in person.
will my child perform in a show?
In our clubs we focus on building confidence within the group. We may share our work with parents/carers (acting as an audience) at the end of terms but we aim to maintain a secure, nurturing environment for children to thrive without the pressure of performance.
This upcoming year, young actors aged 13-18 have the opportunity to join Theatre Company where they will take part in National Theatre Connections Festival 2025. There will be a home performance at The Workshop King’s Lynn and a partner performance at our sister site, The Garage Norwich in April 2025. i have an injury, can i still take part?
If you are injured, we recommend you consult your GP before starting any form of exercise. When you book one of our clubs, we ask you to provide any medical information that relates to taking part in a physical activity. Participants take classes at their own risk. Please inform your tutor of any new injuries.
how many participants are there in a club?
All of our clubs have a maximum capacity of 15 participants per class.
can adults take part?
Yes! Our timetable includes selected clubs for adults (18+) which you can browse here: Clubs & Holiday Activities | The Workshop
Some clubs are specified as ‘open’ which warmly welcomes all levels of experience (including beginners!) and some clubs will be specified if some experience is essential for taking part.
do you have holiday clubs?

do you offer gcse's qualifications?
At the moment, we do not currently offer GCSE qualifications at The Workshop.
Our sister site, The Garage Norwich do offer GCSE Drama and Dance. You can find more info here: Courses | The Garage
do you offer discounts?
As our latest model allows families to contribute what they can, we will no longer offer discounts. It will be up to you to determine how much you can contribute, from as little as £5 per session.
what other things does the workshop do?
We work with many local organisations and partners in the community and nationally to provide exciting performance and creative opportunities to all ages. We have a particular focus on engaging young people with challenging circumstances.
what is co-design?
Co-Design refers to our collaborative projects with community partners such as Vision Norfolk, The Purfleet Trust and King’s Lynn Academy.
We have worked with these local organisations for the past 4 years which were identified to us as groups with challenging circumstances and we use the arts as an intervention.
- We facilitate ‘Sing 4 Fun’ sessions in our venue every fortnight, where Vision Norfolk users sing and share stories.
- Our team goes into The Purfleet Trust each week to facilitate Creative Wellbeing sessions, using creative arts as an outlet of self-expression.
- We go into King’s Lynn Academy each week to hold ‘King’s Lynn Youth Project’ (KLYP) with students identified as vulnerable or at risk.
what is the garage trust?
The Workshop is a charity operating under The Garage Trust (Registered Charity No. 1098975).
The Trust operates two sites, The Garage, Norwich and The Workshop, King’s Lynn.
Staff often work across both sites in Norfolk, but we also have staff based in each community committed to the separate venues.
do you have any work experience or volunteer opportunities?

We generally offer work experiences placements every Summer to students looking to have a creative career.
We also run ‘Introduction to Creative Industries’ courses (ICI) each year for 16-25 year olds.

who does your independent classes?
Independent classes are run by independent tutors and companies who use our studio spaces to deliver their own fantastic classes. You can view these classes at the bottom of our clubs pages here: Clubs & Holiday Activities | The Workshop

can i hire your studios/venue?
Yes! Anyone can use our studios for their own activities whether it’s performing arts focused or not. Our studio spaces are perfect blank canvas’ for any type of activity, including birthday parties, team meetings, workshops or rehearsals.
This will be dependent on availability around our own activities and other independent hirers.
how much is your studio hire?
Our dance and drama studio hire tariff is currently £25p/h + VAT & our kitchenette hire tariff is currently £15p/h + VAT. We are open to sensible negotiations but each person that uses our facilities directly supports all of our activity here at The Workshop. will i need to bring any equipment?
When you use our spaces, we will try our best to accommodate your requests, ready for arrival on the day. We have a lot of equipment available to use such as tables, chairs & speakers.
Extra resources/materials such as refreshments and printing can be requested – please note this may be an additional charge.
can i have a tour of the venue?
Yes! We will always accommodate venue tours around our activity for you to see our studio spaces. Whether you’re a nervous participant or intrigued to hire – get in touch with us for availability to see our fabulous spaces!
what will you have in 2026?
